The2101Game

How-to-Play

The2101Game is the easiest card game you’ll ever learn how to play!
in-game-you-winThe object of The2101Game is to be the 1st player to discard all of your cards into the PILE.

Discarding cards is similar to SPEED in that a player must play a card equal to or greater than the card that was played before them.  That’s where the similarity to SPEED ends, because in The2101Game if a player does NOT have a card equal to or greater than the card that was played before them, they are forced to pick up the entire PILE of cards and play them as Pocket cards before advancing forward.

This is why a simple strategy would be to fold the round if you have a lot of low cards that need to be rid of, because the more players who stay in the round, the more likely a player is to have a high card on top of the PILE when that player’s turn comes around.  So trying to get rid of multiple low cards would be difficult, but NOT impossible.

How To Play: The Deal – each player will receive 9 total cards

in-game-pocketpocket-cards (3) Pocket Cards – The pocket cards are situated to the bottom of the gameplay screen and can NOT be seen by other opponents.  Pocket cards can ONLY be viewed by the player holding them.  Pocket cards are the first cards that a player MUST play in order to advance to the next level of gameplay.

in-game-faceup-1faceup-cards(3) FaceUP Cards – The face “UP” cards are situated above the Pocket cards, and are viewable to every player at the table.

FaceUP cards can be played once the player has exhausted ALL of their Pocket cards.

The FaceUP cards can be played in whichever order the player desires.  If a FaceUP card is selected that is NOT equal to or greater than the card on top of the pile, then the player will be forced to pick up the entire PILE and play them as Pocket cards before advancing forward to the next FaceUP card.

in-game-facedown-1facedown-cards(3) FaceDOWN Cards – The face “DOWN” cards are situated beneath the FaceUP cards.  FaceDown cards are a mystery to everyone, and are the last cards to be played during the round.  The order in which the FaceDown cards are played is the single most determining factor to who wins a round in The2101Game.

How To Play: Pocket Bet – initiated once all cards have been dealt

pocket-bet-2a02Once all cards have been dealt, a Pocket Bet is initiated by the player with the highest set of FaceUP cards. Each player will have the option to Raise, Call or Fold. This is the time when players can decide to fold their hand if they feel that their remaining cards are not good enough to win (typically multiple low Pocket and/or FaceUP cards).

Note: Players who FOLD during the round of betting will be skipped for the remainder of the round once gameplay begins.

How To Play: GamePlay – begins once all Pocket betting is complete

a02a01Once all Pocket Betting is complete, the player who has the highest set of FaceUP cards will initiate gameplay by playing the first card into the PILE. The next player can play a single card or multiple cards of the same value from their POCKET onto the PILE by either matching or exceeding the value of the card that currently sits on top of the PILE.

How To Play: FaceUP Bet – initiated by the first player to exhaust all Pocket cards

a10faceup-bet-01The first player to exhaust all of their POCKET cards will initiate a FaceUP Bet for the table.  Each player will have the option to Raise, Call or Fold. This is the time when players can decide to fold their hand if they feel that their remaining cards are not good enough to win (typically multiple low Pocket and/or FaceUP cards).

Note: Players who FOLD during the round of betting will be skipped for the remainder of the round once gameplay resumes.

Once all FaceUP Betting is complete, gameplay will pickup from where it left off prior to the round of betting.

How To Play: Continued GamePlay – continues once all FaceUP betting is complete

a11a13Once a player exhaust all POCKET cards, they can then begin to draw from their FaceUP cards. A player MUST discard all of their POCKET cards before they can draw from their FaceUP cards.

A player can play multiple cards of the same value from the FaceUP onto the PILE at the same time but are not forced to do so.

If a player does NOT have a card that is equal to or greater than the card on top of the PILE, the player can then select any one of the cards from their FaceUP cards but will be forced to take the entire PILE as well and play them all as Pocket cards.

How To Play: FaceDOWN Bet – initiated by the first player to exhaust all Pocket & FaceUP cards

a23facedown-bet-02

The first player to exhaust all of their FaceUP cards w/no Pocket cards remaining will initiate a FaceDOWN Bet for the table.

Once all FaceDOWN Betting is complete, gameplay will pickup from where it left off prior to the round of betting.

How To Play: Continued GamePlay – continues once all FaceDOWN betting is complete

Once a player exhaust all FaceUP cards, they can then begin to draw from their FaceDOWN cards in whichever order they choose, but only one card at a time. A player MUST discard all of their POCKET & FaceUP cards before they can draw from their FaceDOWN cards.

If the card chosen is equal to or greater than the card on top of the PILE, the player can play the card onto the PILE.

If there is NO card on top of the PILE, whichever card is selected will be played onto the PILE.

This is where the player is in control of his own fate, selecting from the FaceDOWN cards is totally up to each individual player.

a25a27If a player selects a FaceDOWN card that is NOT equal to or greater than the card on top of the PILE, that player is forced to pick up the entire PILE of cards and play them as POCKET cards before advancing forward to select the next FaceDOWN card.  When a player is forced to pickup the pile, that player also loses a turn.

If the player DOES select a card that is equal to or greater than the card on top of the PILE, that player can still elect to pick up the entire pile if they feel it will give them a strategic advantage to winning the game.

a29a31a35a38a39The first player to exhaust all Pocket, FaceUP and FaceDOWN cards wins the round, as well as all chips wagered during the round of play.

2tenaceNote: The #2 and #10 cards are wild and can be played on top of any card.

The #2 card resets the pile to low, and allows the next player to play any card on top of the pile.

The #10 card eliminates the entire pile, and gives the player an additional play to start a new pile.

The Ace is the highest playable non-wild card, and is considered a 2101 card (2, 10, 1(Ace))
